GIC Laddering Strategy
Stagger maturities across 1-to-5-year terms to balance yield and liquidity. Instead of locking everything into a single maturity date, a ladder ensures a portion of your savings matures each year — giving you periodic access to funds while locking in higher long-term rates on the rest.

Essential Chequing at $0/month for your first two years. No conditions, no minimum balance, no automatic upgrade to a paid tier. At the end of 24 months, you choose which account to keep — Essential stays free, or you move to Advantage or Premium if your banking needs have grown.
Secured Credit Card
Build a Canadian credit score from scratch. A refundable security deposit of $300 to $5,000 backs the card, and your spending and payment history is reported to both Equifax and TransUnion. Most clients see a credit score above 650 within 12 months. After 18 months of on-time payments, you're eligible to convert to an unsecured card and receive your deposit back.
Quarterly Advisor Check-Ins

TFSA — Tax-Free Savings
Contributions grow tax-free. Withdrawals are tax-free. Contribution room accumulates annually and unused room carries forward indefinitely. Hold high-interest savings or GICs inside your TFSA. Ideal for emergency funds, short-term goals, or supplementing retirement income without affecting government benefits like OAS or GIS.
RRSP — Retirement Savings
Contributions reduce your taxable income in the year you contribute. Growth compounds tax-deferred until withdrawal — typically in retirement, when your marginal rate is lower. Available as individual or spousal RRSP. Also eligible for the Home Buyers' Plan ($35,000 withdrawal for first-time buyers) and the Lifelong Learning Plan.
RESP — Education Savings
Save for a child's or grandchild's post-secondary education and receive the Canada Education Savings Grant — up to $7,200 per beneficiary over the life of the plan. Contributions grow tax-sheltered, and withdrawals are taxed in the student's hands (usually at a very low rate). Your advisor can help you optimize annual contributions to maximize grant eligibility.
